Hello everyone, (Message en français suivra)

Me, Aoifasd and Rawrchu are organizing a cosplay photoshoot for cosplayers and cosplay photographers in the Montreal area. This 5th photoshoot will be held on Sun, Apr 5, 2009 around Chinatown. After the photoshoot we'll go to a restaurant nearby for dinner. This event is not only open to us and our friends, but to new people as well. Come in costumes and bring your cameras! ^_^

Final schedule:

Sun, Apr 5
11:30 am - Meetup with people at Place-d'Armes metro
12:00 pm - Bubble tea at L2
1:00 pm - Change into costumes at L2
1:15 pm - Photoshoot begins in multiple places around Chinatown*
5:30 pm - Dinner time, some people can leave or follow us for dinner
6:30 pm - Dinner ends
6:45 pm - Photoshoot continues at the Intercontinental Hotel and/or at the Pdc underground carpark
8:30 or 9:00 pm - Photoshoot ends
*: In case of rain, we'll shoot in the Montreal Underground. The rest of the schedule should stay the same.

What's the itinerary?

We meet at the metro near the doors. At noon, we head to L2 to eat and drink. At 1, we change into our costumes (if not already done so) and we hang around Chinatown, doing mini-shoots at a time in various places. We'll begin with the stone park, on the stage, where we'll probably spend the majority of our time. Then we look for other spots with less people and take other shots there.

At 5:30, we find a restaurant with a table large enough for us all (might need to reserve by phone in advance) and eat dinner until 6:30. After dinner, we head to the Palais des congrès and we continue the rest of the shoot at the Intercontinental Hotel. At 8:30 or 9, we wrap up and end the photoshoot!

How do I get there?
Chinatown
Car: Streets around Chinatown should provide parking. However, finding an empty spot is a matter of luck!
Metro: Get off at Place-d'Armes metro station and meet us near the street exit (not the Palais exit).

What do I bring with me?
Basically, the usual things you need when you go out for a walk in town. Plus:
Cosplayers: Your costume, plus accessories, weapons and props (in bags).
Photographers: Your camera, with fully-charged batteries and a memory card with enough free space; tripod optional.
You can bring a pen & notepad to exchange names & email addresses with the others. If you want to picnic, bring a meal, ready-to-eat.

What if I said I'll come, but then I can't come?
Leave a text message on my cell with your (nick)name before Sunday 12 pm. Or just call me.

Can I leave anytime I want?
Yes you can. Just don't forget to tell us "Goodbye!"

I got lost at [the place]. What should I do?
Call us, or look for us around the district.

Apart money for food/gas/transport, is there any other expenses for this event?
About $5-10 for drinks/snacks prior/during the shoot, and $10-15 for the dinner at the resto.

When is the next photoshoot?
We don't know yet, but it should be in May. Probably the weekend before Anime North, when the flower trees are blossoming!

Bonjour tout le monde! Moi, aoifasd et Rawrchu organisons un photoshoot cosplay autour du Quartier Chinois le dimanche, 5 avril, 2009 à 12h pm. Ce photoshoot est ouvert à tous.

On se rencontre au métro près de la sortie. À midi, on s'en va au L2 pour manger et boire. À 1h, on se change en costumes (si ce n'est pas déjà fait) et on se promène autour du Quartier Chinois, faisant des petits shoots à la fois à divers lieux. On commencera avec le parc en pierre, sur la scène, où on dépensera la majorité de notre temps. Puis ensuite nous trouverons d'autres spots avec moins de monde et on continuera là.

At 5h30, on trouve un restaurant avec une table assez grande pour nous tous (avec réservation si possible) et on soupe jusqu'à 6h30. Après le souper, on se rend au Palais des congrès et on continue le reste de notre photoshoot a l'Hotel Intercontinental. À 8h30 or 9h, on range tout et termine notre photoshoot!

Apr 5 - Schedule is now final!

Apr 3 - Rain has been announced for Sunday... I'm adding the Montreal Underground as a location option.

Mar 30 - According to the votes on FB, the location of the photoshoot will be: around Chinatown.

Mar 8 - The photoshoot date has been determined: The photoshoot will be held on Sunday, April 5. We are now collecting photoshoot location nominations. So far we have: Square Victoria / Intercontinental Hotel, Montreal Underground, Chinatown and some small places (ask us to know). I don't think we're going to the Beaver Lake Chalet again, at least not until spring/summer, when it'll be warmer. But I plan to organize a shoot there in June...

Ca m'intéresse vraiment beaucoup! Au moins 1 de mes 2 costume va être fini pour cette date c'est certain!

Je pourrais venir, mais je n'ai pas de cosplay!

J'ai une amie qui viendra probablement pas en cosplay d'anime mais en Lolita (son habituel vestimentaire)

Ca devrait aller. Pas strictement besoin d'être en "véritable" cosplay.


Oui, bien sûr! Et on aura besoin de vous, au cas où certains photographes ont besoin d'être remplacés parce qu'ils portent des costumes eux/elles aussi et veulent se faire prendre en photo à leur tour.


Originally, the phrase was, "This event is not only open to us and our friends, but to our friends' friends as well!" But we got a group so large (~30 people) that it was hard to coordinate, so I changed the wording to reduce the group to a manageable size. ^_^;


We've had 3-4 J-rockers before, you should be OK.

Non non elle n'est jamais allé. On est aller au otakuthon pour la premiere fois l'an passé. Moi c'est Jaya qui m'a parlé des photoshoot et maintenant que j'ai un costume super j'suis super gros intéressé a venir!

Je suis intéressé par contre je vais confirmer que après le cosplay bowling.

josianne - sérieusement, d'est que le beau temps va revenir sa va etre moins de job pour la sécurité, vu qu'on va pouvoir etre dehors... c'est dla job, surtout que semblerait-il que cest qui as contrat d'appeler pour la sécurité
