I visited the video game room the first day and 2 computers were not used at all, it would be nice to have osu! installed on those computers so people from that community could gather and play a bit.
I even saw someone bringing their laptop and tablet to play osu!, which I thought was ridiculous.

For those who don't know, osu! is a rhythm-based game for the pc that has 4 game modes.
Standard plays like Elite Beat Agents and Ouedan, click or tap on the hitcircles to the beat: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p3QjSMXRYnQ
Taiko plays like Taiko no Tatsujin: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mkp8QKDsFIA
Catch the Beat is a mode where fruits fall according to the beatmap's beat (varies between difficulties) and you have to catch them.
osu!mania plays like O2Jam, pretty much like DDR on a keyboard: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gyoz9r5OBas

This could totally be used for tournaments.
It would be very nice to see osu! in the next Otakuthon.

if you're talking about the ones that were on the left when you enter the video game room, then they were broken.

Osu is a pretty popular game, I'll see if they can add it o 3o.

I would love to add games on the Lan computers.

We had to phase out multiples games in preferences to tournament games only because of the lack of interest from the masses...

We do have a rhythm games corner which could get some love with PC rhythm games. I'll bring it up on the next years con planning sessions.

I'm also willing to bring my external hard drive prior to the con with a decent amount of songs in it.
Just let me know if osu ever gets in the con.

So I'm guessing osu! won't be included for this year's Otakuthon?
I'd be kind of disappointed.

There's gonna be something much better; you won't be disappointed. Bring all your friends into rhythm games with you. :)

Still would love to see osu! next year.
I'm not exactly good at IIDX.

It was our initiative (the Bemani Troopers) to widen everybody's horizon and show that many other japanese rhythm games exist, games that are cult in game centers.
I think this is the goal of Otakuthon. We tried to show games that were less known that DDR, Rockband and Osu! Our goal wasn't to show "hey we're good at this game" and we didn't volunteer for the whole week-end (Saturday we were there from 10 am to 3 am!) just to play. So yeah... the Bemani Troopers, if they're back next year, won't showcase Osu!, but it's up to anybody else to become a volunteer and take care of that game.

Perhaps I'll volunteer to host the osu! booth.
I'm afraid my laptop may not be good enough to run osu! at optimal speeds though.
