Both born and raised in Arizona, they met each other at an anime con and teamed up romantically and professionally to explore their passion for cosplay. They continue to expand their collection of costumes, conventions and experiences that they love to share with the cosplay community.

Sylar began cosplaying in 2009 and has been doing so alongside Sheila ever since. He works hard to stay in character and provides a performance with every costume he wears. Sheila began cosplaying in 2007 and makes both her and Sylar's costumes and props. She also styles both of their wigs and applies both of their makeup jobs.

Well, the site is up, and 2 guests have been announced:
- Nobuo Uematsu - Japanese Guest of Honour
- Arnie Roth - Musical Guest of Honour

Yes, you've read correctly: we're getting Final Fantasy's main composer this year ^_^

Lots left to be announced, unless the con spent it all on them (doubtful since we're paying extra over the registration fee to see the concert

Let me guess... year of Attack on Titan?

- Bryce Papenbrook (Eren)
- Josh Grelle (Armin)
- Trina Nishimura (Mikasa)
- Matthew Mercer (Levi)
- Jessica Calvello (Hange)

I would also suggest Lauren Landa (Annie), but she's at another con on the same weekend. Still, those five actors are probably the most iconic of the series.

Oops! That was not the correct answer. Click your browser's back button to try again. A Blue Exorcist panel with Bryce Papenbrook and Johnny Yong Bosch would be neat.

Little problem is that... Otakuthon already invited Johnny Yong Bosch in 2009. Seeing how they don't invite the same guests every year, that might take a while before we see him again at Otakuthon; Montreal Comic-Con's another story, as they did get Vic Mignogna for last year AND in 2011.

Besides, Attack on Titan is all the rave right now. Everyone wanted an English dub (which they finally got; no seriously, people asked J. Michael Tatum is he would be participating in the dub and people asking Vic if he would like to be in the dub as well; ironically enough, Tatum is voicing Erwin), everyone is talking about it and of course, everyone is cosplaying characters from it.

So... why NOT make 2014 the year of Attack on Titan for the convention? 2009 was for Bleach, 2010 was for Fullmetal Alchemist, 2011 was for Naruto, 2012 was for Tiger & Bunny, 2013 was for Black Butler... so yeah, let's make 2014 all about Attack on Titan.

That might not give us Colleen Clinkenbeard, BUT there are plenty of other voice actors worth inviting.

For Japanese guests, I would love to see either Zun or Yuzo Koshiro at Otakuthon someday.

Here is the complete list of the guests who can't come because they're at another convention the same weekend

Chris Patton
Kira Buckland
Cherami Leigh
Kyle Hebert
Leah Clark
Danielle McRae
Erica Mendez
Johnny Yong Bosch
Lauren Landa
Micah Solusod
Scott Freeman
Bill Rogers
Marc Swint
Todd Haberkorn
Ian Sinclair
Michael Sinternilaas
Leah Clark
Sonny Strait
Tia Ballard
Martin "LittleKuriboh" Billany
Marianne Miller
J. Michael Tatum
Darrel Guilbeau

New to the list
Greg Ayres

Question: Why can't otakuthon invite guests who already came from the past? I mean I see american conventions do it. Even Anime North. Heck A-kon reinvited Kyle Hubert this year. I mean some or maybe even many of us can only afford to come one convention per year. Not inviting anime guest(s) to Otakuthon because they were at Montreal Comic-Con last year is kinda stupid.

I don't think that it's because they can't, but because they don't want to and maybe they just want to invite new guests every year. Is it a bad thing? Not at all. Also, many American conventions are considerably bigger than Otakuthon in terms of attendance and buget, in addition of being in the USA. Someone loving in Texas has basically no trouble getting from point A to point B in the same country than crossing the border.

Maybe it costs a lot more to invite guests in Canada... so if you would invite guests for your convention, I believe it would be wiser to get new people every year to keep the convention fresh and new. Montreal Comic-Con does its own thing, but even then, they rarely invite the same guests. I don't recall seeing the same casts from the same shows every year. They too change their line-ups as well.

Is it to say they shouldn't re-invite past guests? Not at all. They could invite people that was invited 4 or 5 years ago if they wish, but again, schedules will decide who they can get.

We definitely have a whole bunch of guest announcements in the future! Uematsu-san and Arnie Roth were announced early since we had to synchronize concert ticket sales with pre-registration opening, so that dictated a lot of what content had to be released. Charging for the concert tickets was not a decision we made lightly. We realize that some people may not agree with the decision, but the extra funding is instrumental (heh) in making these events happen.

In terms of re-inviting guests, we do try to keep the guest lineup fresh each year. That's not to say that we won't occasionally invite guests back that we've had in the past, but we have limited resources, and face much higher costs than many other conventions in terms of transportation. We feel that variety in the guest lineup year-to-year provides the best value to attendees, enabling them to see guests that they may not have had a chance to see before.

*facepalm*
Don't you mean "incremental"? The pun's too obvious to miss, you know that?

CALL IT! TOTALLY CALL IT XD!

Jokes aside, "quality over quantity" applies here as well. 10 guests that nobody cares for isn't gonna be help as much as 4 guests that everyone would like. You cannot satisfy everyone, but if you get the majority of the attendees, that's what counts.

I cannot speak much about the other kinds of guests, be mangakas, cosplayers, musicians and such... but I think that 3 or 4 voice-actors is a pretty good and reasonable number, at least, that's what you've been aiming for every year since 2010:
(2010) Vic Mignogna, Caitlin Glass, Aaron Dismuke and Quinton Flint
(2011) Crispin Freeman, Maile Flanagan, Steve Downes
(2012) Yuri Lowenthal, Tara Platt, Scott McNeil
(2013) Veronica Taylor, J. Michael Tatum, David Vincent, Monica Rial

Lovendor: They are pretty new, but they got great songs. They were guest in san francisco 2013.
http://www.j-pop.com/2013/lovendor/ So, my bet they would comes.
That would give us access to a major IDOL Reina Tanaka. 1 of the best Morning Musume's singer ever.

From Hello Project
-----------------

Juice=Juice: Cute's songs. All girls are lovely. They are pretty new, but i beleive they got enough stuff to
make a solo concert. If they comes, that would be their first oversea concert!

Morning Musume or C-ute:
A big dream. Even at Japan EXPO Paris 100k visitors. They had to make the concerts as PAID one. 50Euro +
probably expensive to call them. But, i'm a dreamer !

Yikes...

Hope they have some names in mind, because the more they wait, the less likely we're gonna get some people.

With the latest news, might as well change my wishlist again:

1) Bryce Papenbrook (Eren)
2) Trina Nishimura (Mikasa)
3) Josh Grelle (Armin)
4) Matthew Mercer (Levi)
5) Jessica Calvello (Hange)

Here's why?
- Attack on Titan got HUGE in no time; the anime got a lot of success, the manga is still going, the series recently got dubbed by FUNimation... and if you haven't seen a AoT cosplay at a con recently, then you need glasses. If Otakuthon makes 2014 the year of the Titan, we're bound to see a LOT more.
- 4 to 5 actors; I'm keeping it reasonable here, and I ordered it by importance/popularity.
- All of them are veteran actors; be in anime or games, these five have a lot to share with us.
- All of them seem to be available; that's me crossing my fingers though.

Of course, once again, that's just a wishlist, keeping a certain theme to it like previous cons. Then again... any actor would be fine by me... as long as I can get something sign by them of course ^_^

Love Henrickson's list, adding to that, here a few people involved in the cosplay community I know would be interested in being a guest at Otakuthon this year!

Electric Lady

ImageImage

From Las Vegas, Nevada. She is an incredible seamstress and has been cosplaying for several years. She cosplays from Sailor Moon to Panty Stocking and Garter Belt to Cybord 009 to League of Legends.

Ger Tysk

ImageImage

From Boston, MA, Ger is not only ans established cosplayer, she's also a photographer who toured the North America in 2012 and 2013 in order to write a book. Her book, Breaking All The Rules, is a photobook that celebrates costuming and self-expression.

Sachie

ImageImage

A Cosplayer and a vlogger for Geek & Sundry located in Toronto, Sachie has been cosplaying for many years now. She is a regular vlogger on Geek & Sundry Vlog channel (their most popular actually) and discusses Wigs, Armor making and Body image.

MLZ Studio

Video ; watch me

MLZ Studio, or Michael, is cosplay videographer who lives in Austin, Texas and tours the United States, filming cosplayers at convention... for fun! His videos are regularly featured on League of Legends, Kotaku, ThinkGeek, and many more. Bonus point: Michael is actually Canadian!

Looks like we have a 2nd Japanese guest: Yui Ishikawa, a renowned stage and voice actress... mainly for her most recent role of Mikasa Ackerman in Attack on Titan.

I'm telling you guys, they should surf on that wave and make the con AoT-themed this year.

These are 4 really great cosplayer in the usa. They are often invited to con and it would be awesome to have junkers and Okageo coming over here since they are really talented with their armors. Also Junker'S made the cosplay props for the RWBY cosplay team.

Any news on what other guests won't be able to make due to being at other cons? While we're on the subject, what other cons are happening between August 22nd and 24th?
